Upstream Suicide Prevention

Suicide is a leading cause of death among youth with Idaho having the fifth highest suicide rate in the nation in 2020 (CDC).

Suicide is a major public health issue. In many cases, suicide can be prevented. However, current prevention efforts aren’t keeping up with the increased rates of suicide. Preventing suicide needs to be a community goal. This is not a matter of knowing the signs, but in changing the way we think as a society about dying by suicide, funding research, and working together to build community wide support networks.

Reducing the risk of death by suicide demands honest conversation and a unified community effort. Families, educators, mental health professionals, school administrators, and mentors all play essential roles in prevention. Our mission is to partner with these groups to support our children and foster their well-being.
